“Chinese-Canadians Get-Together” Grand Concert in Vancouver

On the evening of November 1,2011,”Chinese-Canadians Get-Together “Grand Concert washeld at the GE Stadium jointly by All -China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese,China Central Television and CCCICA in Vancouver,which boasted over 10,000 audience and such dignitaries as Lan Lijun, Chinese Ambassador to Canada,Liang Shugen, the Chinese Consul General in Vancouver, Chen Mai, Director of the International Liaison Department of All China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Cheng Hong, CCTV deputy editor-in-chief as well as representatives of the Prime Minister of Canada, Members of Parliament Andrew Sexton , British Columbia multicultural Department, Wally Oppal, Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan also were present at the Concert.

It was a family trip as well as a thanksgiving trip, precisely because this family bonds , though across the Pacific, has been inseparable ever, the Overseas Chinese in Canada will always pay attention to the motherland, thinking of our compatriots.

After the devastating earthquake hit Wenchuan, Overseas Chinese in Canada had made generous donations to this disaster-beaten area, which ranks second in the world with a total of over US$28 million, accounting for almost 10% of the total contributions,indicating the deep affection of local Canadians towards Chinese people, and more importantly, the true love for the motherland of Chinese Canadians, So we cherished this event with a grateful heart .

Superstar singers from Chinese mainland,Taiwan, Hongkong and Macao gathered in Vancouver, to name it ,Na Ying, Guo Feng, Han Lei, Evonne Hsu, Peter Ho, Ken Chu, Daniel Chan, Elva, Kelly, Saussurea three sisters, Qu Dan Wang Li and Alpha. With passionate affection and superb acting skill , they have dedicated to a high level of performance for the overseas Chinese residing in Vancouver and local Canadians from all walks of life who are keen on Chinese culture.

Beijing Olympic champions Zhong Man, He Wenna and Luan Jujie showed up on stage as well, shared their title stories during the interview which aroused warm-hearted applause from audience moved by their true love for the motherland. With marvelous performance going on stage and audience cheering enthusiastically to respond, GE stadium was full of joyful atmosphere.

Local overseas Chinese community choir, the Wu Zujie Ballet, Liang Shu-Hua National Song and Dance Troupe, also presented brilliant performance, reflecting the active participation of the overseas Chinese. That was why this show had drawn extensive coverage by Vancouver’s major Chinese-language media.
