Consul General Rick Savone unveils potential business fields in China

On Wednesday, June 12, CCCICA was attending a luncheon in honor of Mr.Rick Savone, Consul General of the Canadian Consulate General in Shanghai hosted by CCBC at which Mr. Rick Savone offered insights into how Canadian businesses can best position themselves to seize growing economic and commercial opportunities in Shanghai and greater Eastern China.His talk also dispels some commonly held myths about doing business in China while offering modern views about how partnerships can create jobs and prosperity on both sides of the Pacific Ocean.

Mr. Rick Savone is a career foreign service officer and has been the consul general in Shanghai since June 2012. He has previously served Canada abroad in Algiers, Algeria(1996); Princeton, USA(1999);Mexico city, Mexico (2003); and in Minneapolis, USA(2005). Before arriving in Shanghai, he was the Director General responsible for the Office of Transformation at the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

 

In his talk, due to domestic consumption-driven mode of development ,the rise of middle class, food safety, and energy-saving trend,there are some potential areas in Canada covered in the emerging Chinese market as promising ones, such as food and agriculture, IT industry, Life Science & Health, Environment & Energy and Education Sector, etc.

 

As the Canadian Consulate General in Shanghai, they are willing to create a Business Incubation Centre and provide services to Canadian businesses as follows: Preparation for International Market, Market Potential Assessment, Qualified contacts and Problem solving,etc.
